A few weekends ago we went to visit my mother-in-law who lives in Vacherie, LA. After visiting with her we traveled to Thibodaux, LA which is where we usually spend the night in a hotel before traveling home. Thibodaux, LA is about 15 minutes from Vacherie, LA.
Before heading to the hotel we wanted to pick up dinner or sit and have dinner.  The past few years Thibodaux has grown tremendously. At one time, there were only a few places to eat, now there are several restaurants.

That night, I wanted Mexican food, so I began to search the Internet for Mexican restaurants. I wasn't sure if I would find a Mexican restaurant, but it was worth a try. To my surprise there was one or two that was near our hotel. As we were traveling, we drove past a Mexican restaurant that was new.

El Paso was opened and surprisingly we had never been there for dinner. So we decided to dine there. Upon entrance into the restaurant, there was a band that consisted of only two people, but they sounded like a full band because of the different equipment they had.
On weekends there is a two man band that performs while you dine. They sounded pretty good. We decided we wanted to sit outside, so we didn't have the opportunity to hear much of the two man band. They play whatever you request, lol.. What are you feeling tonight? You won't be disappointed.

El Paso has a nice outdoor space with fans and a bar area with a TV. Very nice for people like myself who like to sit outside. That night the breeze was nice and there was no humidity. I enjoyed the space outside, plus lil mama could get off of her chair and play once she was finished eating without interrupting anyone.

El Paso is referred to Louisiana's finest Mexican food. At first glance, the restaurant is very nice but I was a little worried about whether it would be a waste of our time and money. But, to my surprise, the food was spectacular!

Unlike most restaurants where you are bought chips and salsa at the table, El Paso serves three dips with their homemade chips. Warm salsa, black bean dip and regular salsa. The warm salsa was more like a pureed salsa with no chunkiness at all to the texture. The warm salsa was superb!

Pictured above is black bean dip. The black bean dip doesn't looked very appealing in the bowl but the bean dip was awesome. I ate almost half of that little bowl. I preferred the bean dip instead of the two salsa's.

The regular salsa was your typical salsa with a kick. Not too chunky, but the right consistency, hint of cilantro and jalapeno pepper that added a nice amount of spice. Overall the dips were all a hit with the family. Everyone enjoyed the dips.

Lil mama had the cheese quesadilla with beans and rice. She loves cheese, so the cheese quesadilla was an awesome choice for her. Her plate pictured above looked good. I didn't try her food, but the fact that she ate most of it, is a testament that she enjoyed the meal.

Brian had the Enchilada Dinner which consisted of two chicken enchilada's. Shredded chicken in a soft tortilla shell topped with enchilada sauce and cheese. Served with rice and refried beans topped with cheese.

My stepdaughter ordered the Chicken tacos. Her meal came with lettuce, tomatoes, shredded cheese, rice, broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. There was also a cheese sauce that you could put on the taco as well. She said her meal was very good. Her plate was very hefty, but she ate most of it. Lol. The plate looked really good.

I ordered the beef chimichanga (a burrito stuffed with chopped beef, deep-fried and topped with queso) with rice, refried beans topped with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream and guacamole on the side. My food was amazing. The food was hot when he bought it to the table. You could tell that the ingredients were fresh. The beef was well seasoned, I didn't need to add anything to my plate. I enjoyed my meal!!
Overall we loved our visit at El Paso we will be visiting this place again. The service was awesome and the food was amazing. We didn't have any complaints during our visit. If you will be in Thibodaux, I highly recommend this place. You won't be disappointed. The prices are very reasonable.
El Paso hours of operation are 7 days a week from 11am-10pm, with the exception of Friday & Saturday the restaurant closes at 11pm. The contact information is 985-447-3833, 602 N Canal Blvd, Thibodaux, LA 70301. El Paso also has two other locations Houma & Morgan City, LA.
